Krościenko Niżne

Krościenko Niżne was founded around 1350 by King Casimir the Great. Until 1924 it had rural rights, then it was transformed into one of the districts of Krosno.

At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, crude oil began to be exploited in Krościenko Niżny, then in 1886 the "Poznań" oil deposits were discovered. Established in the 1960s, the Krościenko Niżne Crude Oil Mine is still in operation using   devices such as treadmill, pump jacks, transmissions, drilling equipment.

Trivia
You can see oil wells there, mainly in the area of  Kopalniana and  Ślączka Streets. The area on the right bank of the Wisłok river is characterized by a highly varied topography, with numerous oil wells.
