Stara Sil

Stara Sil is an urban-type estate located in the Staryi Sambor district in the Lviv Oblast, halfway between Khyriv and Staryi Sambor in Ukraine. Salt has been mined here since ancient times. The extraction of salt has greatly contributed to the development of this area. This royal town located in the Bieszczady foothills once belonged to the Przemyśl salt mine.
The first records of Stara Sil come from 1502. Nowadays, around thousand  inhabitants live there.

The town is located in the vicinity of oil-bearing areas, which were the basis for the development of the oil industry at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, few traces related to the oil industry still remain in the area. These are mainly objects connected with
the oil industry.
