In the footsteps of Łukasiewicz- Zręcin
Zręcin
Zręcin is located in the valley of the Jasiołka River, in the Podkarpackie Province, in the Krosno county, in the Chorkówka Commune. The first documents relating to the village come from 1227. However, there are indications that the village had existed earlier, and its founder was Floriano from Italy.
From 1819, Zręcin was owned by the Klobassa family, including Karol Klobassa-Zrencki, co-founder of the oil company. In 1878 Ignacy Łukasiewicz and Karol Klobassa-Zrencki built a building at 12 Kościelna Street, the neo-Gothic Saint Stanislaus the Bishop and Martyr Church, designed by Aleksander Gebauer.
After the death of Ignacy Łukasiewicz and his wife Honorata, the bodies of the spouses were buried in the cemetery in Zręcin.
After World War II, the Klobassa family palace was demolished, the foundations of which are located next to the primary school named after John Paul II.
